Sherwood Master Amplifier
Shure Controlled Reluctan
The Sherwood Master series of amplifiers were advertised and sold as very high end "Professional" amplifiers.  They were made by Nat Daniels of Danelectro and sold through Montgomery Wards.  In the 1949 Fall/Winter Wards catalog the Sherwood Master sold for a whopping $97.95!   The models I've seen or heard about are the 8422 and 2547 which are rated as 20 watt with an "auditorium" 12 inch speaker.

Here is a listing for it in the Spring/Summer 1952 Wards Catalog:

I've been working on refurbishing this old tube amplifier.  It's a Sherwood Master Model 2547.  I sure would like information on it if you have any.  My awesome amp tech Ken LeBaron at LBaudio.com in Derry NH (highly recommended for vintage tube amps) searched for and was able to find similar schematics and came up with the Silvertone model 1303 as a close match.  This amp was made in the late 40's as the speaker is a Rola J-12 date code 285646 (1946) it's got a field coil and the pots are also from the 40's.  The tube configuration is 5U4GB,6L6 (x2), 7C7 (tremolo), 12SN7, & 12SJ7

If you have any info, or schematics, or pictures you'd like to share please contact me - would love to hear more about this rare amp!  I am building a new cabinet for it - so a picture of one in good shape would be most helpful as this one did not come in original cabinet.

This sounds fantastic for harp -  The first sound clip is using a Lee Oscar D harp on a Shure White CR element - no effects just recording through one of those cheesy mics that come with a PC.  It's a .WAV file so it should launch automatically -  The 2nd is a Shure 575S microphone key of A Hohner Golden Melody this clip is with reverb.  Not my best performances but you should get the idea of the sound.

This is how I got it -  messy - the original cabinet is gone and the green Roland cabinet just doesn't have that old vintage charm.
