I blame Grampa Ted! Oh I admit I was well on my way and had already discovered the local ponds, terrorizing the sunfish, perch, pickerel, and hornpout....but with Grampa Ted it was always an adventure, and of course he was after trout!

I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire (USA).  I have been fishing all my life and developed a taste for fly fishing during my college years.  I tie all year long, semi-commercially thoughout the winter, and I tend to supply my own fly box during the summer months.  Check out eBay for flies... search for bonefish flies and you should come up with a hit for goangling.

I have really focused my commercial tying on tropical saltwater species such as these goangling originals Mekorski Bonefish Fly and Decorum Crab Fly.  Fly tying is a passion for me, it is not however how I make a living.

I have the ultimate respect for those that have chosen to make fly fishing and fly tying a way of life, and particularly for those that make a living at it.  These hard working professionals deserve every credit for developing and creating new fly tying patterns and techniques.  The best and most productive patterns typically have a name associated with them such as "Lefty's Deceiver", "Clouser Minnow", "Borski's Fur Shrimp", "Veverka's Mantis Shrimp" just to name a few.  I know for me if it wasn't for these folks I wouldn't be as successful an angler as I am today.  Whether it is learning the basics of casting a fly, buying a rod, reel or line, learning to read the water, or tying a fly.......these professionals have done the grunt work and deserve the credit.

With that said in no way would I ever try to encroach, poach, or take credit for a pattern that has been previously tied.  Frankly I am not that kind of person, and will always give credit where credit is due.  I do feel there is value in naming a pattern for obvious practical reasons, so for practical reasons I have given names to a couple of patterns that you see on this site... the Mekorski and the Decorum Crab.

Please feel free to copy these patterns at will and load your fly box with them.  I promise they will make a great addition, and will hopefully have great company with flies originated by the masters of fly tying.

When you are the hero on the flats and your fishing companions ask what pattern you are using feel free to say.... the tan barred tail, sparkle dubbed body, ginger hackled fly with the 1/8" stainless steel bead chain eyes tied on a stainless steel size 4 mustad 34007.  Better yet .....these size 4 tan mekorski's are killing them today!

This is a picture of me years ago in Governors Harbor in Eleuthera, with a little bone.  It was my first......
