My Bench
I have limited space to tie flies. Out of necessity I have begun sharing the study and the common desk which I now call "The Shop"! I decided to make a concerted effort to simplify, organize and consolidate my tying supplies without discarding anything. I wanted a tying area that could be set up and broken down with minimal effort. If it took to much time to get started tying I knew I would be more apt to walk on by.
Here are some photos of how I solved the problem.....
I bought a couple of these desk drawer organizers at one of the large department stores. I fill them with supplies used to create a certain pattern. As you can see I have filled this one with tying materials that I use to produce bonefish flies. These are stackable, and this one stacks on top of another that has other common materials that I use often. These take up very little space, are mobile, and best of all cost about a buck each!
I also have one of those foam tool caddy's that puts my tools within easy reach and is also at hand at a moments notice.
As you can see space is at a premium! But I can get in and get out at a moments notice.....now all I need to figure out is which closet I can use to hang my clothes in, mine is stuffed full of tying material.
