My fishing companions and I love to reference a phrase made popular by Lou Tabory "time on the water". This is by far the most important means of becoming a successful angler. However in my neck of the woods when the winter rolls in there is only hard water, and spending time on the ice is challenging to say the least for a fly fisherman. When winter arrives I spend time on the books and time on the vise in order to make the time fly. Below is a short list of the references from my library that I frequently go back to and from which I have quoted from on this web site. I would highly recommend purchasing all of these books. Let's face it these guys are the masters, and we can all learn something from them, even if it's humility. | Reference | Author | Publisher | ISBN | 1 | Saltwater Fly Patterns | Lefty Kreh | Lyons and Burford | 1-555821-336-8 | 2 | Bonefish Fly Patterns | Dick Brown | Lyons and Burford | 1-55821-392-9 | 3 | Fly-Fishing For Bonefish | Chico Fernandez | Stackpole Books | 978-0-8117-0095-5 | | 4 | Clouser's Flies | Bob Clouser | Stackpole Books | 0-8117-0148-4 | | 5 | Innovative Saltwater Flies | Bob Veverka | Stackpole Books | 0-8117-0902-7 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
